As I traversed the desert near my landing site, I came across the most queer of sights. A treelike monstrosity, rising high into the lavender sky.
The Basaraytz is not an animal, no matter how beastlike it looks. It is a carnivorous plant that natives will climb in order to retrieve the seeds. The climb is often a death sentence.
The blooms of the basaraytz are highly desired for medicinal purposes. They call it the "cure for all ails" as it has reversed such maladies as hair loss and cataracts.
When a native causes too much pressure on the lip or step wrong while climbing, they can slip either into the folds or the mouth at the top, becoming trapped in a viscous fluid. Unable to find purchase on the slick walls, they will drown and be digested.
