Your Colonist
New Player Guide Series: FOUR
Previous Next
Now that you have your colonist designed, you might be thinking: What next?
We mentioned the design update in the last few guides and linked to the visual guide, so we won't go into too much detail on that here. Basically, submit your geno design request and wait for admins to approve it. Once it's approved, your colonist will be a full-fledged character! They will have their ID number assigned to them and you'll be able to see how many breeding slots they have in their Bank.
But... what are you seeing on your colonist's page and what does it mean?
This colonist has an item attached giving it a background image.
Short Note — This only appears if you've set one - which you can do under "Edit Profile". This is usually a nickname, rank, etc.
Phenotype — A text version of the visible and hidden markings.
Colony — You!
Born — This often links to the birth page (breeding page or claim page) for colonists, but usually older colonists don't have this linked and it will simply be the date that the colonist was created on-site.
Species — This is always Tsabhua for your first colonist.
Sex — This is calculated based on the the genome. If you notice it says "Invalid" or "Other", you might need to nudge us to fix that.
Age — There are two Ages for colonists: Adult and Whelp. Adults are any colonist whose level is 25 or higher. If your colonist is a whelp but its level is above 25, you will need to submit a design update request to rank them up as adults before you can continue to level them.
Level — Level up your colonist using XP. Newborn colonists are Level Zero while adults start at Level One.
Experience — These are the points earned by making art and literature of your colonists.
Specialty — If your colonist has gone through class specialization process, you will see their specialty here.
Visible Genes — These markings are visible on the colonist.
Nonvisible/Carried Genes — These markings are not visible but may pass on to the colonist's children
Mutations — This is where you will see any birth defects or mutations your colonist might have.
Genome — The advanced genetic code of the colonist.
Inbred — This will check the visible ancestry of your colonist to determine if they are inbred or not. If they are, it will list their duplicate ancestors
Status effects are different effects placed on your colonist. Some, like infertility, may be present from birth. Others may be gained during gameplay, like injuries.
Statpool: The sum of your six stats.
Armour Class — This is calculated using CON and STR as well as a species buff. If this says "NULL," You need to initialize the skill in your Levels and Stats page for the colonist.
Experience — The same as above, the amount of experience your colonist has earned.
Health — Circles indicating health. If all of these are filled in, your colonist's health is full, otherwise it's hurt and may need a visit to the hospital or have an injury tended.
Health is calculated at birth based on Constitution modifier and a species base. Most species have a base of 10.
Strength — This affects your colonist's AC, litter count, and Mining modifier.
Dexterity — This affects your colonist's AC and Stealth modifier.
Constitution — This affects your colonist's AC and litter count.
Intelligence — This affects your colonist's Medicine and Science modifiers.
Wisdom — This affects your colonist's Survival modifier.
Charisma — This affects your colonist's Social modifier.
Survival — Based on WISDOM, this affects success in Foraging.
Combat — Based on STRENGTH, this affects success in Mining.
Medicine — Based on INTELLIGENCE, this affects success in Tending.
Science — Based on INTELLIGENCE, this affects some unreleased actions.
Social — Based on CHARISMA, this affects success in Diplomacy.

Document Compiled — This is when the Image was uploaded to the system and was approved.
Document Adjusted — Sometimes an admin will update an image without creating a new one or requiring a design update request.
Design by — This lists the design credits - who designed the colonist. You may have multiple people listed!
Art by — This is the artist. Usually, this will be the lineart artist (for official art, Xione.)
Image Notes — Staff set, notes about the specific image.
Description — Staff set, can specify if a colonist was born in the automated system or their stat pool.
This is accessible through the "Profile" link on the left hand side of the screen.
Initially, this will only store the most current image. You may hit "Edit Profile" to edit the following:
Name — This will edit the name for your colonist! Remember, only designed and approved colonists may have their names changed.
Personality — This should be a SHORT personality that is also displayed on the home page.
Short Note — This is the note we mentioned above that's visible both from your colony page and from the colonist's page under Image Info.
Profile — Here's the good stuff! You may use HTML here to craft your colonist's profile as you wish it to be! Add personality, history, plot points, etc here and feel free to be as creative as you'd like!
