Terminology
[noun] - This is the translation from genome/genotype to language humans can understand.
[noun] - A term often used in breeding ARPGs that allow split litters. Whoever has POTL is determined to have first pick of which whelp they might want from a split litter they're participating in.
[noun] - Research is meant to build up a colony and unlock certain activities and functions. For instance: in lieu of individual breeding rites for individual colonists, a colony may purchase breeding permission in order to breed all of their colonists.
[noun] - Research is purchased via Research Points, which are obtained when a colony creates art or literature. It is meant to reward individuals for doing their own work. If a colony commissions a non-colony, they may redeem up to half of the RP, so long as the artist/writer specifically states that they may. If the artist/writer ever joins, they may submit a Claim with links to redeem the remaining RP to their own colony.
[noun] - RNG is Random Number Generator. This is usually how we roll things randomly. 1d20, etc: The first number is the number of rolls and the second number is the range. - 1d20 means that we roll a random number between 1 and 20 once. A combo like 2d6 means that we roll a random number between 1 and 6 two times.
[noun] - Terms for relations within the ancestry. A sire is a father of a colonist; a dam is the colonist's mother. The lineage is basically the ancestors going up that are visible from the lineage part of the colonist's page, until the great-grandparents. If a colonist is inbred within the visible lineage, they will have negative consequences in any breedings.
[noun] - Also known as a breeding slot. This refers to the number of litters any particular colonist may have within their lifetime. This is calculated on birth based on the colonist's Constitution and Strength.
This can be increased during some level ups.
[noun] - When two different colonies want to breed a pair of colonists and "split" the litter between them, it is called a split breeding or split litter. It is the players' responsibility to determine who gets who in the litter and we will not re-roll for single-whelp litters or even deceased split litters. Generally, whelps in split litters are decided in a zipper pattern: One player picks their choice, then the other picks one, and then the choice goes back to the first player, until all whelps are chosen.
[noun] - A young colonist of any species. Make sure to include the H when spelling this!
