The origin of your colony.

Completion Challenge Applicable PromptIntroduction

The origin story of every colony is slightly different. Some were invited by DPIP directly, others were simply in similar airspace. Others happened across interstellar wormholes that brought them here and DPIP, ever the investors, decided to offer a place upon their planet. No colony existed on Xiunus before the arrival of the Department of Protected Inhabited Planets, but life surely did exist upon it.

Please remember that use of AI generation is not allowed on Xiunus, unless it has been heavily painted over (at least 90%) to make it your own. In those cases, we highly recommend manually combining multiple generated pieces, throwing a heavy gaussian blur on before painting over, and adjusting colours so that it is not simply tracing and you know what parts you've already painted over while working. Please include an indication that part of your work was AI generated! Completely self-created work is always preferred but we understand that sometimes, you need a little help to get started.

C1.A1 — The Colonist

This first prompt is all about getting comfortable drawing or writing your first colonist.

This doesn't have to be the first colonist you added to your colony, but it should be one of yours, not a native, NPC, or other colony's colonist.

You're welcome to use the same art that you have used for your first colonist's image, so long as it's user-drawn (not on free lineart) and you have permission to use it. Do remember that you'll need to have an applicable background image though!

C1.A2 — The Researcher

Your researcher is an important part of your colony. Without it, there would be no true communication with DPIP and you wouldn't get any supplies or equipment from them. The Department of Protected Inhabited Planets is a bit strange like that—they don't really want to deal directly with any of the native population.

Researchers are similar to what other ARPGs call "handlers" and are essentially intelligent/sapient/sentient original characters that handle the organization of a colony and are the individuals who communicate with DPIP. For the above reasons, Xunari natives (such as tsabhua, belemoid, or tark'ee) cannot be researchers. Intelligent species from other ARPGs can, but they cannot give both the Affiliated ARPG and Researcher XP/RP bonuses.

For this (and the next) prompt's XP purposes, if you don't include any colonists present, you may calculate one researcher as if they were a colonist. However, they aren't allowed to also have the Researcher bonus stacked.

C1.A3 — The Colony

diplomacy.png

The final introduction prompt for Arrival is an overview of your own colony's physical location. This can be their home camp once it's set up, the area they're looking over, or sometime in the process of setting up and building camp. You don't need to include any of your colonists inside it, but it's usually pretty helpful to include them to show the scale of your colony's base.

If there's no researcher or colonist, calculate this for RP as: "Landscape Only" (5RP) and borrowing the "Home Region" (2RP) bonus from XP to make 7 RP.

Remember, the native species of Xiunus are pretty big compared to humans on Earth, so everything should be scaled up accordingly!
