The new settlement in Mireh had been giving issues pretty much as soon as Kestrel arrived. She had, somehow, let Bloo convince her that she should be the one to help lead the new settlement in Mireh. She hadn't been convinced at all to start, but Bloo had assured her that she would be in full control of the settlement. This still hadn't convinced her, but she had reluctantly agreed to at least scout out the location and the locals.

As soon as she arrived to the land that the colony had claimed, Peridot, Quartz, and Citrine in tow, an angry native showed up.

"Are you the ones we claimed this land?!"

Kestrel looked over. She spotting an angry, brown Tark'ee with blue markings that looked like eyes across his back. She vaguely remembered him from the bunker. He must've been trapped there, too. She dug around trough her brain for a name, and eventually remembered- Arthurian.

She raised an eyebrow, subtly pushing Quartz and Peridot behind her. Citrine had a knife on him, but the other two already had put their stuff away to be able to carry the boxes of materials around. They had been dropped off earlier, but weren't in the main building that had been constructed.

"What about it?" Kestrel said, chest puffed out as she spoke. "We got it fairly."

Arthurian rolled his eyes. "Only after the deal that we made got cancelled." Kestrel was caught off guard by the "we" in the statement. She looked around, until she saw another Tark'ee in the tall grass. She vaguely recalled Boppler, who had seemed nice when they had first met. She wasn't about to let her guard down, though.

Peridot spoke up from behind her "We still got the land fairly- what your intentions with it were isn't our problem."

As he said that, Citrine subtly strengthened his grip on the knife he had been holding, nodding at Quartz. Quartz was quite fragile and clumsy- and would likely be better off staying out of any fights that were to happen. They hadn't brought much with them, the journey from L'hatzif being quite difficult on foot, but what they did have were important supplies that would be crucial to setting up camp in this new region.

Arthurian gritted his teeth but paused, making Boppler look at him in confusion. "What're you doing?" he whispered to the other.

Arthurian groaned. "It's not worth it-" Boppler  looked like he was about to disagree, but seemed to decide against it.

Kestrel still eyed the two with suspicion. Arthurian was still glaring at her. "If these folk are going to steal our land we'll just have to find someplace else."

Kestrel watched them walk away, still on guard untill the two shaped had dissapeared over the horizon, dissapearing over a far-away hill.

She heard Citrine sigh in relief besides her.

"That was odd." Peridot said, awkwardly. "Do you think they'll be back later?"

Kestrel shrugged. "Hard to say, really. I suppose we should let Bloo know, and one of should find somewhere to trade for some security equipment." she looked over the small group. If there were two Tark'ee eyeing up their land, they should probably make sure there's at least three colonists still there to hold the fort. Quartz seemed like the obvious choice, though.

"Quartz, can you go to the neighbouring colony and ask them to use their comms?"

Quartz nodded, still looking a bit shaken up from the encounter.

"If you're going anyways, you should be able to ask them for some information on trade around here, too." Peridot added quickly.

Kestrel nodded in agreement. "Ask about nearby tribes, colonies, and cities, if you can."

"What about the colony themself? Maybe they have some stuff for trade, too." Citrine spoke up.

Kestrel nodded in agreement. "You're right, of course. Did you catch that, Quartz?"

Quartz nodded. "Ask if they have anything security-related for trade, and ask where else we can shop around."

Kestrel nodded. "They should be just over that way." She gestured north, and Quartz immediately took off.

"That went- horribly." Peridot muttered. "I was really hoping for a warmer welcome, to be honest."

Shrugging at him, Kestrel looked at their hastily stacked supplies. "We should put this away. Maybe we can find some friendlier faces when Quartz comes back."
