Flaxen is a modifier gene that has two possibilities. In either possibility, the affected markings should still be based on the base coat hue, unless modified with artifice.
Flaxen can turn one marking into a lighter version of itself. For instance, a "darker tone" marking may instead be "lighter tone" or "white," or a "black" marking may be either "darker tone," "lighter tone," or "white."
It can turn the claws and any mane fur (mohawk, tail tuft, mane, etc) to be significantly lighter than the base coat and markings it touches. This and nail polish are the only current ways to have claws lighter than the fur they touch.
