Khan is one of the Anukai species, a race of cybernetically-enhanced gryphon-like creatures. He trained extensively for exoplanet missions, including scientific studies, combat training, and alien environment field training. His commanders assigned him this mission on Xiunus after contact with the DPIP. Along with colony management, he seeks to catalogue as much as possible about the planet and its inhabitants.

He is very independent and spends much of his time away from his colony's home (his base of operations), running excursions into the wilds, recording information, and working with his colonists. He interacts with other colonies as necessary for trade and the rare collaborative work that needs done, but usually keeps to himself and his colony. His manner with outsiders is generally wary and blunt.

He has retractable wings that can be withdrawn or deployed as necessary (a feature of the Anukai). Here on Xiunus, living in the L'hatzif forest, he usually keeps his wings retracted and out of the way, preferring to move on foot with his colonists.
