These are the available research trees that you can buy to expand your game. Some research is required to unlock certain aspects of the game, such as Breeding and Crafting, while others might increase rewards for other aspects of the game. Most research trees require Research Points to unlock them - learn how to earn Research Points here. Other trees might require a different currency earned in the process of playing the game.
