Native Population
Non-NPCs
The native population of Xiunus consists primarily of Xunari species such as Tsabhua and Belemoid, as well as external species that have immigrated in and flourish outside of the colony framework. Colonies may interact freely with natives and may even encourage natives to join colonies. Officially, forcefully bringing a native into a colony is not permitted, but meta lore permits it.
There can only ever be a maximum of four natives available for diplomacy at a time. If a colonist encounters a Native during an Observation when there are no more slots, the raffle ticket for the observation will be randomized from the available raffles, favouring the region of the submission.
Natives, once being encountered in an Observation, can be Woo'd by any colony that has that research. Colonies generally have one month to woo the native, each attempt earning tickets towards a raffle that is automatically rolled at the end of that period.
If surrendered to immigration, the natives will be released back into the wild, where they can be encountered again.
All natives are, by default, opted in to the ancestry program. This means that randomly generated colonists may have natives, even those who have joined colonies, as part of their ancestry. This allows continual gene flow and potential for canonical lore. Colonies who have invited natives into their homes may opt out of this on a per-native basis.
If a colony that has not been online in a year is in possession of a native who has opted out of the ancestry program, they will be opted back in. This is to ensure that a gene line will never die due to inactivity.
All natives have permissions set aside. In June 2023, all non-colony natives had at least two breeding permissions set aside. Going forward, all new natives will automatically have these permissions set aside. These do not count against their generated slot count but are used to ensure continued geneflow. These permissions may be granted to users as rewards for events, worldbuilding raffles, or otherwise at the discretion of the admin party.
Natives refuse to participate in gene or major visual modification. This includes items such as philters, serums of erasure, and medicinal shrooms. They may be put onto custom lines if desired, but there should be no changes to their actual design. It should be noted, if they are put onto custom lines and they are released into the wild again, they will remain on those new lines. If attempts are made to adjust their genes, they will refuse and trust will be lost between them and the colony. Natives will accept small accessories, such as earrings or minor scars, so long as they don't fundamentally change the design.
There are other members of society beyond those mentioned above. These may live in cities, tribes, or elsewhere with no regard to colonies. These are usually called Figures or NPCs and are explicitly different from Natives in that they are not willing to join colonies and do not have their genomes documented, therefore cannot participate in reproduction with colonists. Being more elusive than Natives who wish to join colonies, these cannot be encountered via worldbuilding prompt but may be written or illustrated for the Mascot bonus.
