Zephyr was setting out again, for the third day in a row. He wanted to have more supplies for the colony in general, and he wanted to see what resources grow close to the colony. He did his best not to show how excited he was as Orcana dragged her feet behind him. "Zeph… you can not be this excited to walk around and look at mushrooms… again." The black and white whelp dragging her claws which each step she made, clearly trying to make Zephyr slow his pace. Zephyr stopped for a moment to allow her to catch up before retorting, "You know Orca… it wouldn't be as bad if you didn't literally drag your feet the entire way." A scoff from the black and white whelp was an expected response. Though she picked up the pace even though she had complained, with the two moving at a moderate pace they would be able travel around another new looping portion of the swamp. The swamp could be confusing, mixed in with the forest and with foliage that obscured not only the ground but also the view of the sky. The ground was unforgiving in places, squishy and would also dissolve below their feet. Not like quick sand but rather a spot which looked like solid ground but that was an infinitely deep puddle. As the season would change however, the ground would likely dry even the smallest bit before becoming washed out and return to their puddles and ponds rather than a solid ground like in other areas of the planet. This is L'hatzif though and the swamp was eternal and ever growing.
A loud sigh rang out as the two continued to trot along, "Zeph why must you always go so far when foraging? How am I supposed to slip back to the colony, if you make it impossible to find the way back?" Zephyr picked up his pace slightly before replying, "Oh sorry didn't realize we were moving slow enough that you still weren't happy." A slight mocking tone spurred Orcana to continue moving forward. "Why you-" as Orcana picked up the pace, Zephyr picked up the pace too. It became a chase rather than the two scanning the environment. Proof that they were still whelps, breaking off in an argument and running headlong in a portion of the swamp less traveled by them. "SH-" a short yell, quickly cut off cause Zephyr to whip around. "Orca! Are you okay?" He moved back towards to black and white whelp. Orcana was now also splashed with mud over her lower white markings, up her legs and up her flanks. An angry growl from the muddied whelp told Zephyr to back up, but before he could get far enough away it happened. Orca had picked up her front arms both upper and lower, and slammed them down into a big mud puddle. She knew that Zephyr would meticulously pick the mud from his fur, as he stood with mud all the way up his front side now. "That's for running, when you know I don't want to." Zephyr stood and blinked his eyes in disbelief, of all the things he expected that wasn't one of them. Accepting that he was now coated in mud, Zephyr sat down before offering an outreached hand to help Orca to stand up. "Are you okay though?" His head tilted, and his voice showing his worry. Orca was quick to reply, "Yes, I just slipped… you know how the footing is here in the swamp. Questionable at best." Zephyr nodded gently, and helped pull her up for her to get her footing. The two whelps were now soaked with water and mud from the swamp. A soft laugh from both as they continued to bound through the dense forest, and splash each other with more mud when able. Zephyr was more successful at splashing Orca with mud than she was with splashing him. Partially because she was focusing on dragging back Zephyr towards the colony under this guise of a game she could totally win if she tried. Or so she told herself, and this is why she believed that she would lose the game, simply because she wasn't really trying. However anyone who knew the two, knew that Zephyr would definitely win a game like this.
Both would stop and investigate whenever there were small flora growths, searching through all the mushroom types and even little flowers when they could find plants other than mushrooms and trees. Smeesh was coming to an end and warmer weather was coming, meaning that many of the plants were releasing spores or had large gills formed ready to release spores when the season changed. As the two wandered back to the colony they both ended up caked in mud though they did return with some items, though they seemed focused largely on making sure the other whelp was coated in more mud that they were. When the returned they both stopped at the edge of the colony, as they didn't want to trek mud over the area… they both knew that Pandemonium had been cleaning the colony space all day. The black with a soft bluish white colored underside was sure to come unglued if the two trashed the place that he had just cleaned. Zephyr gently set their findings inwards on the floor as far from Orcana and himself as he could reach. Pandemonium had heard the two as they got closer to the colony. "What the hell happened to you two?! Did you fall into a Nikop den and forget that you're a Tsabhub??" Zephyr loved to mess with Panda as he called the other whelp, and so he started his plan, "So what if that's what happened Panda?" Pandemonium's eyes darkened at the nickname, "Listen Phyr, don't go burning the colony down because you forgot how to walk." Zephyr tried his hardest not to laugh, but Orcana couldn't hold it in. "There is no way you just called him 'Fire' I'm assuming 'P-H-Y-R' I'm sorry Panda but you're just encouraging him." Orca broke down in laughter unable to keep it in any longer. Pandemonium frowned and his nose wrinkled in disgusted, "Whatever you two knuckleheads… dust off outside or else you're going to clean everything in this colony with a single leaf as your tool." The two troublemakers made their was back out of the colony's shared space and found a small sunny spot to dry off in. The mud on Zephyr had mostly dried but the mud caking Orca was much more extensive and due to its "freshness" was still tacky in some spots and soaked in other spots.
Zephyr and Orca made a return once they had brushed the mud from their coats. When they returned, they found an angry Panda waiting for them. "I swear, you two don't accomplish anything when you leave together." Zephyr gained a smile and a falsely innocent look, "Oh so… will you come with us the next time to keep up on track then Panda?" Orca saw her moment as well, "Oh yes! What a wonderful idea… then you could show us how it's done." Pandemonium's glare could melt steel, "With you two knuckleheads definitely not, no one can successfully forage with either of you two." Zephyr feinted pain, dramatically touching his chest as if clutching pearls. "Oh my- whatever shall I do… what an insult from the Panda who never leaves home." Orca stifled another laugh alongside Zephyr who was clearly struggling to hold it in. Zephyr piled on one final statement, "Panda when I see you out there roaming around sometime then we can talk about home much I accomplish when I leave… but uh, until then I don't think you get much of a say.
