Colonist entry #1
------------------------------
Subject: Whiplash or "Whip"
Special note from user 'Pen': Do not refer to her as Cool Whip as a joke. She gets sort of bite-y. I thought it was funny, then I discovered how sharp whelp teeth are.
Species: Tsabhua
Sex: Female
Origin: Bred. 'Adopted' from Immigration.
Initial contact:
During what I would consider an 'orientation' period, I found the Immigration building. A fair assortment of Tsabhua whelps were being housed there. Due to my initial 'geno' needed to be recoded before I could pick up the lab born whelp, I had a few immigration vouchers still burning a hole into my pocket. I was, and even now a full week later, unsure as to why these children were up for adoption. I suppose every colony has its reasons for needing to give up whelps, but I can't entirely fathom why.
I took my time looking at all the children there. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but I would pick out whatever called to me first. And that is when I saw Whiplash. She was not as talkative as some of the whelps, and kept her distance to study me. I could appreciate that. I also had a soft spot for her coloration. Black and gold, or black and yellow, have always been a favorite for me.
I took my time, letting her and the rest of the whelps that day warm up to me over the course of the next hour. I was in no rush. I wanted to find the correct primary colonist for me to raise. I wanted to learn and grow with whoever I chose to share territory with. But they needed to have the right temperament.
Needless to say, I ended up going back 'home' with Whiplash. For a whelp she was big.
I hope I made the correct decision.

==========================
Whiplash, as a whelp, appears to be above average when it comes to her height and weight. At the time of adoption she was about 2'8" at the shoulders, and around 169 lbs.
Her fur and hide is in the black range, with a darker black sable marking that gradiates to her true black base color and then finally goes to a lighter gray underbelly. Her tail tuft is a gold-yellow with the same color marking the sides of her neck and going onto her face in blotches, indicating it will eventually even out to be a better defined Heartfire marking. Along her back and upper neck are the small, light gray, stripes. The genetic coding performed on Whiplash suggests this is part of the Nyala marking.
Her eyes are a gradient that starts as a dull red at the outer edges of her iris but turns into a golden hue towards the pupil. Her skin at this time appears to be black on most areas, though some slight fading lends to the idea that her markings are going to change in time or that her skin color may change slightly with age as well. (Note from Pen: Like a calico cat nose. I've seen kittens with black noses but as they grow older pink starts to take over the nose. While I do not believe such an extreme shift in color will occur due to what I know of the Tsabhua species, I do expect some color shifting to occur.)
Whiplash's claws are normal in size compared to the rest of her species, and black in color. She does not have any spotting that is common among the children of her species, nor does she boast the smaller primary arms that can be seen in whelps.
In summary: Whiplash appears to be in great health and is above average in her height and weight. Eyes are clear, claws are long and strong, and skin is healthy and without blemish. She comes from a good lineage, suggesting no problems later with genetics.
Personality:
Quiet // Observant // Modest // Serious
Initial observations suggest that the above traits make up the 'core' of Whiplash. These traits might change in time, but this should be considered as the basis of Whiplash.
Whiplash is not incredibly talkative or chatty, preferring instead to keep her thoughts to herself. Her silence should not be mistaken for disinterest, however. When she does speak it's mostly to ask further questions on whatever is going on at the time. She is quick to learn new topics and finds great joy in deeper conversations. As she grows, this trait is expected to graduate from talking abut how toys function to how certain scientific theories work.
It's when she talks that one can see just how much she's taking in at all times. Little details are never lost on her. She has most likely seen your new hair cut, noticed how you've changed your style of clothing, and has already formed schedules for various people based on advanced pattern recognition. Where it might take an average person three weeks to pick up on the habits of another researcher, it will take Whiplash no more than a week and a half. This, unfortunately, leads to her being a perfectionist and gets slightly annoyed when things change up.
When called out on how quickly she picks up on various things, Whiplash will eventually thank you, but only after she's said that other people are better than her at it. Her extreme modest might eventually lead to a more prideful nature by never wanting to ask for help or never accepting it, but this is a trait that will be revisited upon an adult evaluation. Whip does not enjoy being the center of attention and will do almost anything to get the spotlight off of her.
A final note for the Tsabhua is how serious she is, even as a child. She does not take great joy in pranks and finds them incredibly distasteful. Her humor tends to be a bit more on the dry side, and observations from Pen denote that she will eventually have dark humor.
For Whiplash, every person and thing has a place. Everyone is expected to do certain things and act in certain ways. If you fail to meet her standards, much like the researcher she grew up under, she will think far less of you than you may like.
