Suspicious Markings?

It wasn't often that DPIP sent their colony messages anymore, but apparently, a drone had captured a strange marking on a cliff and wanted a report on it. Most of the scrawlings were illegible in the image because the drone had been in motion, but Silvar knew the general area of the cliffs and Gwendolyn was pretty sure she'd seen the scrawlings from the water and knew which cliff it was. Burn came along out of curiosity and the three set out to decipher whatever strange code DPIP had spotted. 

Upon arrival, it turned out that Taiah and Temar, in their wild youthful days, had been using the cliff as a canvas for, uh, artistic expression... they sent the note back to base "markings benign in origin, determined to have come from nearby colony." They didn't need to know WHICH colony... or what exactly the uh, "markings" said...
