Alexander waited patiently on the small docks of Sanquine Cove. He could see a large shipping vessel between the two mountain cliffs. A small boat was slowly moving into the dock. Thomas had told Alexander who he was looking for before saying that he had something to do and disappeared. He did that alot.
The small boat finally made it to the dock and one of the dock hands quickly tied the rope that was tossed to them. Out stepped two Tsabhua. One a silver appaloosa, and the other a striped brown.
Alexander stepped forward. "Welcome to Rekes." He said with as much charm as he could muster.
"Thank you, I am Artaygo and the grumpy looking one is Far'lan" Artaygo said half jokingly whilst pointing at his father.
"Yeah, yeah. " Far'lan grumbled. "I hope this village isn't too far away."
"Not to far. Maybe a half a day's walk. " Alexander answered.
He lead them through the docks and on to a steep winding path that lead them out of the protective cove. As they reached the top they were hit with a gusts of frigid wind. The tall evergreen trees bent and swayed. Some of them looked to be permanently bent from being in the full blast of the harsh wind for so long.
Far'lan started to grumble. "This is the worst place!"
"Once we get into the trees the wind won't be so bad." Alexander shouted so that he could be heard over the wind.
Artaygo and Far'lan ran to where Alexander stood waiting and all three entered the densely packed evergreen woods. The farther they went inland the less the wind blew. They walked as quickly as they could through the woods. As the trees thinned out snow began to show up and they were soon walking through thick snow in between the clumps of trees.
"We are almost there!" Alexander said encouragingly. The trees thinned and they were soon at the edge of a bustling little village.
"This is a quaint little village." Far'lan said. Alexander wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic or not.
"Where is this clinic? We should get a look at the lay of the land so to speak." Far'lan continued.
"Yes. It will be nice to be in a warm building. And I can set up my traps." Artaygo piped up.
"Traps? I keep telling you traps are no go. You have to get them yourselves. You don't get the thrill of the hunt if you just set up traps!" Argued Far'lan
Alexander could tell by the way Artaygo sighed that this was a long time argument that they had.
"I am sure that Moon Stone will not care what method is used, so long as the huldah is no longer living in her clinic." Alexander said.
He led the two foreigners to a large rectangle building. Just as they reached the door it was flung open and a very young, very brown aerobic welp ran out the door.
"Hi, Bye!" he called out as he ran past them and disappeared around a corner of the nearby building.
"Oh good! You're here!" Moon Stone said a black medical bag lay next to her feet.
"Let me show you the room but then I got to go. Shasta's welps are due anytime."
Moon Stone quickly opened up the door to the storage-surgery room. "They like to come from that corner." and then she left.
Artaygo started to pull out his traps from the satchel he wore.
"What are you doing? We haven't discussed yet how we are to get the creatures." Far'lan said with his arms crossed and a frown on his face.
"Well we have to start somewhere. And I thought we could put the traps out now. Go eat and then come back. If the traps are empty then we can do it your way and just wait them out and grab them." Artaygo suggested.
Again sensing that this was an argument the two of them have had in the past Alexander got an idea. It may not be the best but it would be fun.
"We know that there is a whole colony of huldah living in this building somewhere. We have actually managed to catch a couple but they keep on showing up. How about we have a contest?"
"What kind of contest?" Far'lan asked. His interest peeked.
"I have a feeling you are going to be staying here for a little bit. How about every other night we use your traps-" Here Alexander waved at Artaygo. " And the other nights we hunt them whichever way Far'lan wants. Whoever has the most huldahs at the end of 8 days wins. And Hopefully we will have gotten rid of the huldahs"
"I don't know." Far'lan grumbles.
"Well I am willing to do this contest." Artaygo said. He looked pointedly at his father.
"Alright, alright. Let's do the stupid contest. Then we will know for sure what is the best way to deal with vermin." Far'lan finally relented.
