The Nukap had been a real nuisance lately. Reach huffed, sharpening her spear while she watched Reckon and Owe grab their gear too. The trio had assumed that they would have a peaceful day, having just celebrated Owe officially having permission to hunt with them, but as soon as the three had woken up they were met with a frustrated looking Fawn.
"You guys need to do something about the 30 to 50 feral Nukap that keep coming into the clearing whenever I send the whelps out to play."
Reckon blinked at her, confused. "The what now?"
"You heard me the first time!" Fawn said, annoyed. "There's like 30 to 50 feral Nukap that keep bursting into clearing. It's dangerous- they could seriously hurt someone."
"Errrh-" Reckon tried not to let her confusion show. There shouldn't be *that* many Nukap around, should there? She looked over at Reach for help, but the Tsabhua just shrugged. "We'll- go take a look, I suppose."
Fawn huffed. "You better! I've been asking Bloo to send someone after them for ages now, but he keeps looking at me like I'm crazy, and I'm tired of being on hog lookout."
Reckon nodded. "That's understandable. We'll go get our stuff." she quickly walked away, taking Owe and Reach with her.
---
"I mean, thirty wouldn't be crazy, would it?" Owe asked, curiously. He was tightly clinging onto the DPIP-brand blaster. The younger Tsabhua had already taken a knife, and started scratching the logo off of the weapon's handle. Reckon couldn't help but hum in approval when she noticed.
"That's like- two litters worth of Nukap. It'd be large litters, but it doesn't sound unheard of at all." he added, looking at Reckon for answers.
"It wouldn't be unheard of." Reach said, shrugging. "But thirty to fifty nukap is a lot to be roaming near the colony, especially if they are roaming around the clearing. Like Fawn said, that could lead to all kinds of dangerous situations."
Reckon nodded in agreement. "Especially with the little ones nearby. Whelps tend to not be the best at assessing which animals are friends and which aren't, even more so since we keep tame Nukap."
Owe nodded thoughtfully. "I really wonder how many of them there are though. Thirty to fifty seems like an exaggeration."
They had been following some nukap tracks for a while now, but it had seemed that it was a mother with two or thee young. Nowhere near the amount that Fawn had described.
They had been walking along the muddy forest floor for a while now, nearing a river that Reach and Reckon had claimed the Nukap like to hang out near. When they got there, Owe froze. "Ah- she might've been onto something with those 50 Nukap-"
Reckon peeked over his shoulder, shooting Reach a look. 50 might even have been on the lower end of her guess. She frowned, but calmly walked up to Owe. "We can take down a few- that should scare the rest off, too. Just remember- aim carefully when shooting the first, and then just take whatever shot you can."
