Today Rozwel had two young Tark'ee helping out in the clinic- Ztuli and Charai. It seemed to be custom now for the whelps to try out different jobs around Tsidal to figure out what they enjoyed. Rozwel was just starting to explain the typical goings on in the hospital when the telltale bell rang, signalling someone had entered the waiting room.

"You two hang out back here for a moment. I'll go check on that bell. Then hopefully you two will get to see first hand what we do here." Rozwel padded out the swinging door to greet whoever had walked through the door and was met with a stranger. He had a determined look about him, but was clearly uncomfortable. "Hello, I'm Rozwel. I'm a doctor here, how can I help you?" The tsab nodded "hi, I'm Ballast. I'm from one of your neighboring colonies, Diving Beetle, and I had a…" at this he paused for a moment and said almost under his breath, seemingly annoyed. "Stupid hunting accident." "Ah, welcome to Tsidal, I'll be happy to take a look. Why don't you follow me to one of our rooms."

Rozwel lead the tsab off to the left towards their patient rooms. It wasn't every day they had a visitor from another colony, but everyone was welcome in Tsidal, and certainly anyone who needed healing would be helped. "Ballast you said?" Rozwel held the door for the tsab. He nodded and strode in, taking a seat on the provided chair. "Would you mind if two of my young assistants sat in? They're learning about medicine and the hospital today with me." "Sure, fine. That's kinda cool for them." Rozwel nodded. "We'll be right back then.

Rozwel walked back and called for her helpers. "Charai, Ztuli, come on over here." The two whelps bounded around the corner excitedly. "Who's here?" "What's wrong with em?" Rozwel quieted them. "We have a visitor from one of our neighboring colonies, so Charai. I'd like you to take some notes on this tablet, and Ztuli, I want you to be ready to run and grab anything we need to help our new friend. His name is Ballast, and we're going to find out what's going on with him, so I'd like you both to be polite, and observe all you can. Got it?" Both whelps nodded enthusiastically and readied their tasks.

The three tsidal colonists entered the room. Ballast nodded politely at the whelps. "Okay Ballast, let's get to it. Tell me what's hurting. You don't have to tell me what you were doing or how it happened if you don't want- that's your business, but I'll take any details you want to give. Charai here is going to take notes for me, and Ztuli here might be in and out to get the supplies we need." Rozwel introduced Ballast to the assistants and launched into her exam.

The tsab explained the pain he was feeling in his paw. "I was on a hunting mission- you know for the bunker, and it's been a couple days but my foot still hurts. I don't know what I did, it didn't hurt in the moment. My group did awesome, we got the prey we needed, but now I'm just frustrated cause of my foot." Ballast's chest puffed out proudly as he told of his hunting success and he offered his front right paw for Rozwel to look at.

Rozwel carefully grasped his paw. Nothing looked immediately out of place on top. The belemoid turned his paw over and examined the pad. Still, no obvious wound. Rozwel couldn't quite tell if turning the paw over had caused Ballast any pain as the tsab seemed to be stone faced and stoic. "Charai, note no obvious signs of injury upon visual examination." The tarkee whelp used his tail tip to write down the info and Ztuli fidgeted back and forth, waiting to be called upon.

"Ballast." Rozwel looked up at the tsab, whose ears perked up and he looked expectantly. "I need you to tell me the second anything hurts. I'm going to poke your foot very gently okay." "Okay" the tsab visibly steeled himself, keeping up his tough appearance. Rozwel poked each toe and on the very last one she got a reaction. "Hurts!" Ballast said suddenly, sucking in a breath. Rozwel gave a little frown and carefully parted the hair to look closely at the skin.

"Aha! I see the problem. Charai and Ztuli, come look at this." The whelps gathered round and Ballast looked a little alarmed. "What is it, what's wrong?" He questioned. "You've injured the bed of your nail, but not in a way that made the claw fall off or separate. Truly an impressive injury, as I really don't know how you managed that." Ballast cocked his head, not quite sure if that was a good or bad thing, but ultimately rolling with it.

Charai and Ztuli peered at the wound to see an injured nail bed with a hole straight through the center. It'd clearly be painful to walk on due to the pressure, but ultimately wouldn't be hard to fix. Rozwel affirmed as much to Ballast. "Let us grab a few things and then we'll get this taken care of for you. Come on assistants, there's work to be done." The three tsidal colonists wandered out the door to grab their supplies, leaving Ballast alone to enjoy the view from the window.

Ballast looked out at the rest of Tsidal which was a bit different from his home colony. The beachfront buildings were half constructed and gleaming in the sunlight. Sand was everywhere, but surprisingly, just as many rocks and dirt could be seen in various patches across the ground. Tsidal seemed to have several seagulls enjoying its land as well, and they could be seen walking to and fro, searching for easy meals. Cliffs rose in the distance eventually overlooking the ocean, the waves washing up the sides of the cliffs. At least if Ballast had to be injured, the view wasn't too bad.
