Finished with Devo, and having deposited him safely in the waiting room, Rozwel and Surena went over the go home instructions with him. Surena had counted out the medication Rozwel had directed and was watching and listening as the two belemoid discussed the wound management.
Finishing with that, Rozwel turned to Merra and Lairi. "Alright Merra, your turn. Come on back with us- unless you like us to wheel you back too. You don't look as obviously injured as Devo, but I could be mistaken." The tsab scoffed "no no, I don't need to be wheeled back. Those pain meds you gave me worked wonders already. I can walk." Lairi slid over to sit next to Devo and began talking to him as her aunt followed Rozwel and Surena back to the treatment area.
"Okay Merra, I'm going to do an examination, but please tell me where you're having pain, and also what happened." Surena sat by and listened eagerly, ready for another fun tale. Merra launched into her story about tracking the hojenst and grabbing a couple. It had been a successful hunt, but unfortunately she'd been barrelled into by one of the creatures who was confused and frightened by their attack.
Rozwel nodded and looked over their patient carefully. "So far I'm seeing mostly bruising. You were limping when you came in here- how is your ankle?" Merra looked down at her back left ankle and flexed it gingerly, wincing. "It hurts. Even with the meds." Rozwel nodded. "I'm going to push very gently on it and see if I think we need to take X-rays. Because you walked in here, I'm doubtful it's broken, but we can always take them to be sure. I don't want to send you home without proper treatment."
Surena looked like she was mentally taking notes. "Surena, can you go flip the large switch on the X-ray table just in case? We'll let it get warmed up while I do my examination." Serena nodded and flashed out of the room to complete her mission. Rozwel resumed her exam. "Your leg is clearly tender and I am worried we could end up having a fracture since it seems particularly painful in this odd spot. It's not a joint, it should just be bone. Sorry to insult your independence, but I am going to wheel you into the X-ray room to be safe."
Merra scowled but didn't protest. Truthfully the grumpy old tsab was happy to be wheeled around, she just didn't want to seem weak or foolish. "Surena, we are going to take X-rays for Merra after all, but I don't want you anywhere near this room for safety reasons. Could you please step back in the lobby and check on Devo and Lairi for me?" Rozwel asked.
Surena nodded politely and left, though she was sad she wouldn't get to see how the X-rays worked. She padded back into the lobby to see Devo and Lairi taking a nap next to each other. They must've been exhausted from their hunting trips. Through the window, the sun was high in sky, indicating noon. The seagul had left the garden, and where it'd been blocking the view, now green shoots could be seen poking up from the earth. The plants might come in without issue since the climate at the ocean was so mild and constant. Not a cloud floated in the sky and the warm sun, coupled with the coolness of the ocean waves and spray made the temperature pleasant. Surena wondered for just a moment how the two could sleep so peacefully when it was so bright.
Inside the X-ray room, Rozwel set up the equipment and carefully took her different views of Merra's leg. They stared at the resulting images for a long while before finally making a decision. "Good news, your leg is not fractured! No breaks, cracks, or weirdness going on here. Unfortunately I'm going to have to prescribe rest and then slow return to movement. Stay off your feet for the next two days, and take the medication I'm going to get for you as instructed. Then after the two days have passed, slowly and gradually use your leg, take a small walk on the soft sand, see how you feel. Do some stretches. Some movement will be good for the healing process! I'll wheel you back out to the waiting room."
Merra nodded, relived it wasn't fractured or broken- just bruised and battered. Rozwel wheeled her back out. "Surena, could you fill these meds for me? I'm going to get these guys ready to go and make sure no one has any more questions before the leave." Surena nodded and headed off. The life of an assistant was constantly running around. Merra chuckled at Lairi and Devo asleep in the sun. "We really have had a long few days. Some rest will do us all good." She affirmed, ready to help her injury heal.
