All in all, there was really no reason for Woodland to steal. Still, she had been sent on a mission to acquire some more Nukap meat, and honestly- she just didn't have it in her to actually hunt again.

She had been giving quite the strange look when she had asked to bring Fero'heart and Peridot to come along with her hunting, as neither quite had the skills that one would usually look for in good hunting companions. Both of them were sneaky though, which happened to be just what was required for Woodland's plan.

She had brought the two up to speed on their way out, and while Peridot didn't *quite* seem to agree, he had little reason to protest. Especially since it'd be two against one if he were to tell on the other two.

There was a Nukap farmer not far from the colony. While just going out, finding one, and killing it would be faster- these Nukap were bound to be killed for Xunari consumption day one, so at least Woodland could feel less bad about it... right?

She pointed the farm out from a distance. The trio had been walking most of the day, ending up at the edge of the fungal forest. The giant mushrooms here were sparcer and slightly less tall then back at home, and likely wouldn't provide much opportunity for them to hide away. Luckily, with the sun already having set, they would be able to use the darkness to their advantage during their heist.

"So- how exactly are we picking up, much less running off with, entire Nukap carcasses..?" Peridot questions, not unreasonably.

"Just pick up whatever you can- it doesn't have to be whole carcasses. It can be cuts or ah- well, just whatever you can, really." Woodland answered. To be honest, she hadn't thought about it before, but Nukaps were bound to be quite heavy and she hadn't picked her team based on strength.

"They'll likely have some freezers with pre-cut meat for clients" Fero added. "Those'll be easier to grab, but it will also be pretty clear that we took it from someone."

Woodland frowned. "We can just say we traded with someone?"

Fero'hart shrugged again. "You're the one orchestrating this kid. I'm just doing what I'm told."

Woodland frowned. She would have to think of something to tell the rest before the group got back.

As they approached, Woodland quickly noticed another advantage. The farmer's Nukap were *loud*. While she was sure his neighbour didn't appreciate this, she would be more than happy to take advantage of it. With all the noise around, it would be much easier to rummage around without being heard.

The trio approached, careful not to make noise and slipped in trough the backdoor. Luckilly, Fero had been right about there being some cuts of meat in a freezer, and Peridot quickly filled his arms and bags with them. Fero'hart picked up a small carcass, while Woodland picked up one larger one and a few Nuklet carcasses as well- their cook had asked for them specifically, claiming the meat would taste different, and it would be suspicious for them to show up without any.

And with that, they ran out the door again, now not bothering to be quiet. As they were a good bit away from the farm, Woodland heard the farmer's door burst open and an angry shout rattling trough the night.

Still- the trio had already ran off too far, and there was little the farmer could still do as they disappeared into the night.

---

When they got home, people weren't without questions. "So..." a judgemental looking Crack started, "You hunted these yourselves... And then someone offered to butcher them in return for some cuts of meat." Woodland nodded, and Fero and Peridot made some noises that *vaguely* sounded like agreement too.

Crack squinted at the trio. "Listen, kid, I won't tell on you but... Please just say you don't want to do the job next time, alright?"

Woodland nodded. This was honestly way too much adventure for her, anyways. She'd likely be way happier sticking with plants. Hopefully soon the colony would have some dedicated hunters trained.
