A small animal, with small round ears and a long tail scurried from the room on its six legs. Moon Stone saw a flash of grey as the huldah ran from the light of the hallway.
"I swear they are multiplying!" Moon Stone exclaimed as she flipped on the overhead lights. She saw three more of the huldah, all a different color of grey, scurrying across the empty counters and down across the floor to disappear behind some shelving.
"I need these gone! How are we supposed to have a doctors office and surgery if there are huldah's running around and leaving who knows what behind." She said in frustration.
"Need some help? " Alexander said from behind her. His friend Jermaul stood behind trying to peer inside the small room.
Moon Stone knew what Jermaul would see. It wasn't much. One side of the room were cabinets that reached from floor to ceiling. Two of the doors were opened and revealed that there was nothing inside them. On the other side, a steel surgical table sat in its lonely corner. The room would need lots of work to get it ready. But first she needed to get rid of the huldah.
"You know I heard Thomas wants one. " Jermaul pipped up.
"Well If he wants one he can come get one. I am giving them away for free." Moon Stone half joked. She knew that Thomas wanted one of the creatures. "He says he wants one to train up. Whatever that meant."
"Well how are we going to catch them?" Jermaul asked. Just then a little white nose peeked out of a corner and little beady red eyes looked at them before disappearing once again.
"I think I know of a way." Alexander said before he disappeared. Curious Moon Stone and Jermaul followed him.
Alexander ran over to a nearby closet. He swung open the door and inside were silver and blue ray guns. Each one cradled in its own slot on the wall. It looked like one was missing.
"Oh wow!" Jermaul gasped. He reached in and took one off the shelf. He flipped a switch on the side and the side lit up in a soft blue light.
"Why weren't these locked up?" Moon Stone asked even as she also took one off the shelf. She also activated hers.
"Don't know. Maybe Thomas was here." Alexander said as he also took one and activated it.
"That would explain the missing gun." Moon Stone agreed.
"Now we just need to go back. Turn off the lights and wait. As soon as they get comfortable they will come out and we can just zap them." Alexander said.
Moon Stone went back into the room and waited for Jermaul and Alexander to get comfortable and then she shut the door and turned out the light. The light from the hallway provided what little light there was. Hopefully the huldahs will come out soon.
It took a little while before Moon Stones eyes adjusted to the dark. She could see Jermaul laying on the floor. The blue ray gun pointing to the other side. Alexander was crouching, aiming his gun where the last huldah had been.
Their patients was awarded as first one then another huldah started to cautionaly come out of their lair and start to explore the room once again.
Jermaul was the first to fire his gun. A bright blue, almost white light spat from his gun. Moon Stone started to shoot at her target. A light to her right indicated that Alexander was also using his gun.
For a little bit light beams crossed over the room.
"All right. I think that is enough. I am going to turn on the lights now." Moon Stone warned. Then she closed her eyes and turned on the light. She slowly opened her eyes and took in the scene.
She could see a small corpse laying on the counter and another one in the corner.
"Oh. I hope you were going to paint here. " Alexander said.
It was then that Moon Stone noticed that not all the shots had hit their mark. Some of the cabinets had black spots where the rays of the guns had hit. A couple of the burn marks graced the walls.
"Oops," Jermaul said.
