It was on their way back to L'hatzif that the group stumbled onto yet another animal related problem. Woodland wasn't sure if she should be surprised at this point. Apparently, the well-travelled path the colonists had decided to utilize was chosen by a lonesome Nukap as the perfect napping spot. Woodland could hardly blame the creature, since the spot it had chosen was bathed in warm afternoon sunlight. Woodland almost felt like joining it- but ultimately decided that she would be juged by her peers quite a bit for that decision.
Rose sighed as she watched the Nukap- who had made no efforts to move when it saw the colonists approach. Koi frowned. "Is it sick or something? Most animals would have fled by now."
In response, the Nukap merely flicked it's tail.
Rose shrugged. "I mean- not to be crude, but it'd be pretty easy to just-" she made a hand gesture that very much translated "kill it an take the cadaver back home with us."
Woodland frowned at her. "I mean- it's not bothering anyone though- we can just leave it be." but Koi quickly shook her head. "If it's in the path then we can't bring the cart over- backtracking would take hours, and also we could use the resources."
Woodland frowned "I'm sure it will move when we roll the cart towards it." to which Koi rolled her eyes. "If that were the case it would've moved by now."
Woodland frowned. "We can take it home? It seems fairly tame, it might belong to one of the colonies around the area. If it's a pet the people would be pretty upset that we killed it."
Rose shook her head. "In that case they should have taken better care of it. For now, though, we need to get trough this road, and quick if we want to make it home before the sun sets." Rose was right- the sun had already started to descend in the skies, casting a faint orange light over the swamps as it did. Woodland still wasn't happy though.
"I'm sure we can take it home. We can make a lead with the rope and just bring it along." Koi and Rose gave each other a look. "Be my guest, I suppose. But make it quick." Koi shrugged.
Woodland quickly grabbed a rope from the cart, tying it into a makeshift lead and attaching it to the Nukap. As she tugged on it, however, the animal didn't move an inch, instead protesting loudly.
"Ah well- I can just pick it up and lay it in the cart, then." Woodland insisted. When she tried to pick the animal up, however, it trashed around wildly in her arms, landing back on the ground with a heavy thud. With a quick shake, it laid back down on the road, determined to resume with it's nap.
Koi grimaced. "I'm sorry Woodland, but I just don't think this is going to work out. We really have to get home quickly..." as she was talking Rose had already picked up a knife from the cart. "You don't have to watch if you don't want to-" Koi gently offered. Woodland didn't hear, already having walked away from the other two.
