Quartz had gotten quite used to living in Mireh. It was quite nice- definitely a lot more likeable than the swamp, in her humble opinion. The fields were quite nice, even though the long grass in this area sometimes made it hard to see what was going on. Especially when travelling with whelps like she was now.
Snap had been brought over a while ago. The whelp had been growing quite quickly and had been (politely) begging to come help out with the Mireh Outpost. Since things were a bit further along and more stable now, there wasn't really any reason not to allow it. Quartz and Citrine were on their way to pick the whelp up. Predict had come along with her, but they had figured it'd be safer to meet up in the border near L'hatzif so that they could travel in a group.
The two Tark'ee had been waiting for a while when the Tsabhua and Belemoid appeared on the horizon, slowly making their way over trough the overgrown flatlands. Snap especially seemed excited, waving at the other two as soon as he spotted them in the distance
When the two groups eventually joined Snap was eager to help out. Predict seemed a bit more hesitant, but grew more welcome to the idea of helping to outpost set up as days went by. As it turned out, Mireh had a lot fabrics and dyes to offer that the belemoid was just *itching* to be allowed to work with.
"You're acting like the Xen is burning a hole in your pocket!" Quartz joked as the group of four were travelling to find yet another trader. Predict smiled in amusement. "Just you wait- when I finish these clothes they will be worth ten times as much as we paid for the materials. Plus, Snap and Citrine have been enjoying the walks, haven't they?"
He looked around, trying to see where the other two Xunari had gone off to. They must have ran off to something they found interesting. "Where did they go..?" he mused. Quartz raised an eyebrow. "They're just over the hill. They saw some weird plant they wanted to check out, I think."
Predict hummed curiously as they climbed the hill Quartz was talking about. The hilly landscape occasionally made it hard to keep eyes on everyone, with the landscape rising and falling others would constantly disappear over the hills, only to reappear later.
When the two did reappear, though, Predict couldn't get to them fast enough, leaving a very confused Quartz behind. He hadn't expected Snap and Citrine to be climbing a Basaraytz, after all. Luckilly, Snap was close enough that Predict could grab him and pull him off of the strange plant, although the whelp landed awkwardly on the ground when he did so. "Citrine! Get off of there!" he called out.
The yellow Tark'ee, however, seemed confused. "What- we wanted to grab the flower on top, why are you so worried?"
Predict couldn't believe what he was hearing. Citrine was about a third of the way up on the strangely folded plant, and luckily seemed to have a good grip on one of the plants folds as they talked. Still, climbing the Basaraytz clearly was a horrible idea, especially as the plant was wet and likely slippery from the recent rain.
"Do you not know what plant that is? It's a Basaraytz, and it's carnivorous- if you fall into it you're gone. Get off of there!" Predict called out to the yellow Tark'ee
Citrine gave him a surprised look, but then quickly started climbing down, a lot more careful now. "What?! Some natives told us they'd be willing to pay a pretty penny for the flowers... They never mentioned anything like that!"
Snap seemed surprised, too. "Carnivorous? I don't think I ever heard about that in my textbooks..." Quartz gave the whelp a gentle pat on the head, muttering a reassurance that Predict couldn't quite catch.
Citrine had jumped down, and was luckily out of danger although he was trembling slightly from the sudden rush of adrenaline. He looked at Predict hesitantly. "Thank you for telling us- that ah, could have become real nasty..."
Predict nodded. You guys should be more careful around here... Mireh doesn't *look* as dangerous as L'hatzif does, but it definitely still has it's dangers.
Quartz awkwardly nodded in agreement. "I guess we should make sure to become more familiar with the region... Maybe we can pick up some books about the region to read together?"
Snap seemed interested in that. "Can we get some books on the plants? I would love to know more about what we can forage here."
Predict nodded, and gently started leading the group away from the Basaraytz. There was no need to stick around it, after all.
