Mid geshem in L'hatzif was a struggle. Bloo found this out pretty quickly, and briefly wondered if he should just return to Mireh or Issiq instead of trying to find a home along the swamps and fungal trees. He had just strarted to get used to the terrain of the region, finding his way trough it and navigating to foraging and sleeping spots, when the floods hit.
It changed the terrain completely, and made Bloo thank the stars that he hadn't tried to set up a permanent camp yet- it would surely be ruined by now.
He sighed, looking over yet another river or lake that had flooded, cutting off his path. It was strange though- there was a lot more debris here than there usually was. He frowned, looking out over the water. A lot of these seemed like chunks of collapsed buildings and fences. He pitied the poor group who was caught in this...
Glancing around, he didn't directly see anyone in need of help. He supposed that was good. He also didn't see any predators, which likely meant the water was safe, right? He slowly stepped in and, when he wasn't promptly dragged down into the depths, started swimming trough.
As he swam, he heard a small noise. He stilled looking around for a bit. He couldn't see anything but it was strange- he was so sure he heard something shuffling around. He was tempted to keep swimming but- what if someone needed help? He sighed, cursing himself quietly, and look around for a piece of debris to haul himself up. It didn't take long to find one, lucky for him.
As he climbed up on what he assumed used to be a section of wall, he looked around the pool of water squinting. He didn't see it at first, but eventually something caught his eye. A small blob of white-ish fur, clinging onto a piece of debris in the distance. Bloo quickly jumped back into the water, swimming towards the other piece of debris- he just hoped he would be in time to help whatever was floating on it.
Luckilly, the water was decently still, rather than the quick flowing currents Bloo had seen in the other regions he had visited. He managed to make it to the floating debris pretty quickly. It couldn't fit him on it, so he started pushing it to the shore as fast as he could.
As soon as the makeshift raft hit the shore he clambered after it, looking at the shape on the raft. He was quite shocked when he realized that it wasn't some animal like he had first though, but instead a small Tsabhua, which felt like a lot more responsibility than he signed up for. The poor thing seemed exhausted, but at least awake, likely having had to swim themselves to safety.
"Uh- hi! I'll get you somewhere safe, don't worry." As he picked the whelp up, awkwardly shimmying the weakened whelp over his back he noticed another- this one black, which had made them blend in with the murky waters. He swore under his breath, awkwardly picking the whelp up with his mouth- he was pretty sure Tsabhua didn't carry their young like this, but he had very little choice. He moved the whelps into a clearing he had found a few days before.
It was a nice place, all things considered, with a small non-threatening stream off to the side, and a circle of mushroom monoliths around it, that Bloo had though at the time would be great to build a colony around. For now, it would be an okay place for the whelps to dry their coats in the sun and rest up.
