rather shy. being abandoned so soon after birth and spending most of his childhood in a DPIP immigration ward left a mark on hiobi. he doesn't trust easily and tends to keep to himself; he struggles to make friends and doesn't try very hard anyway. he likes to read and draw more than he likes to do any social or athletic activites. secretly he wishes to find his birth parents so that he can find out why they left him, but he knows that it probably wouldn't go well. besides-- his guess would be that it was a calculated decision based on his small size. they probably assumed he was a runt who wouldn't live very long-- and really, he might not have without the DPIP's vaccination programs. he always did have sort of a weak immune system.

now that he's an adult, he's matured somewhat. he's still more reserved but he's come out of his shell a little. hiobi has a few good friends now, and has even fallen in love with maema-- although he doesn't always approve of her, ahem, activities (theft). he's still slow to trust and becomes VERY cold if you ever break that trust; it's almost impossible to regain. he's a doting father and a kind, dedicated doctor. he still prefers drawing and reading to more athletic pursuits, but he's no longer terribly embarrassed about it. It was stressful for him when the daughters of his first litter decided to go to Immigration-- his only memories of it were as a cold and unfeeling place that was the source of much of his loneliness-- but he was assured that all would be well. Promises to write assuaged his fears somewhat.
