Worldbuild Dossier: Lumidon

Description of the critter:

Lumidon are carnivorous fish found deep in the Ocean around B'av. They are famous for their innate glow, often being used by divers to illuminate the murky depths of the sea. Lumidon are surprisingly intelligent and very food-driven, which helps in teaching them simple and basic commands. Due to their multiple eyes, these fish are very alert and it is hard to catch them by surprise.

Lumidon feature sexual dimorphism, with the males being bright yellow, almost white and having red eyes, whereas the females have a blue body, with their eyes being an amber color and having lighter blue scales on the lower part of their body. Both, male and female Lumidon have white fins and glow a yellow glow.

Not everyone uses Lumidon purely for light. Some will keep them to harvest their caviar or use their prey drive to find schools of other smaller fish, much like earthbound humans would use a falcon to attack hares and other small creatures.
