A clack rings through the room as Ycthuthrheth puts down the whiteboard marker. The soft consistent hum of fluorescent lights is drowned out by the muffled cacophony of bustling life outside the walls. Gently swaying mushrooms dance in the window's view. Rays of sunlight offer warmth inside the harshly air conditioned room, while the air conditioned room offers reprieve from the swamp's oppressive heat.

Ycthuthrheth claps its hands together. "Now that the lecture is over with, it is time for practice. Please describe what my assistant Ivy is doing. Ivy, start example number one."

Ivy nods and begins to dart around the room, careful to not run into anything, but still having plenty of close calls.

Citria shifts her desk to avoid having Ivy run into it. "𐑲𐑝𐑦 𐑮𐑵𐑯𐑟," she answers.

Ycthuthrheth makes a pinching gesture with his metallic hands, leaving a small gap between his index finger and thumb. "Close! But not quite. Anyone else?"

Tezcatlipoca raises one of his front claws and answers, "𐑖𐑰 𐑦𐑟 𐑮𐑵𐑯𐑦𐑙."

"Ooh, you're very close, but same mistake. Do you have the answer, Corazon?"

"I think uh…" Corazon nods. "𐑲𐑝𐑦 𐑦𐑟 𐑮𐑳𐑯𐑦𐑙. 𐑖𐑰 𐑮𐑳𐑯𐑟."

Ycthuthrheth's hand comes together to a single clap. "Correct! Ivy, you can stop now."

Ivy stops and waits in the corner behind the lecturer's desk to catch her breath.

Ycthuthrheth continues, "𐑮𐑳𐑯𐑦𐑙 is the present imperfective form of run, and 𐑮𐑳𐑯𐑟 is the third person present perfective form of run. 𐑮𐑵𐑯𐑟 refers to a specific writing system or symbols."

"I don't understand half the words you just said," confesses Tezcatlipoca.

"I can't even tell the difference between runs and the writing system," admits Citria.

"I probably get it? I can help explain it to you later," Corazon offers.

Ycthuthrheth tries to comfort them. "Don't worry, you will learn how to listen for the language in time. You just have to keep practicing and trying to listen. Also uh," Ycthuthrheth thinks a bit thinking how to word this, "Running is the present imperfective form of run. Runs is the third person perfective form of run. I'll start using the conjugated verb instead of describing the conjugations when translating words and explain these linguistic concepts better on the next lesson."

Tezcatlipoca nods. "Thanks."

Ycthuthrheth looks at Ivy, who is still catching her breath. "Ivy, next example please. Well… when you can."

Ivy takes slow deep breaths, trying to get air back in her system before the next task.

"𐑚𐑮𐑰𐑞𐑦𐑙," says Tezcatlipoca.

"𐑜𐑨𐑕𐑐𐑦𐑙," says Corazon.

"𐑮𐑧𐑕𐑑𐑦𐑙," says Citria.

Ycthuthrheth nods. "This wasn't the example, but you are all still correct."

Once Ivy caught her breath a lot, she began jumping in place with all her might, going as high and fast as she physically could. Though she was small, her movements made the floor of the building tremble

Citria, Corazon, Tezcatlipoca answer in unison. "𐑲𐑝𐑦 𐑡𐑳𐑥𐑐𐑕." "𐑖𐑰𐑟 𐑡𐑳𐑥𐑐𐑦𐑙." "𐑖𐑰 𐑦𐑟 𐑡𐑳𐑥𐑐𐑦𐑙."

"Wonderful! All correct. Ivy, you may stop doing that."

Ivy stops and is winded once more. Her head droops as she tries to catch her breath again.

"That is all. Class dismissed"
