Xochcatl scans her surroundings, turning her head left to right, making sure that no adults are nearby to intervene. "Psst. Ivy. Kitty. Come with me. I want to show you something," she whispers.

Katherine looks around for adults, then lowers her head and responds in a whisper, "What is it?"

"I heard our researcher saying something about old bones found in the swamp."

Ivy does a quick scan of her surroundings as well. Once she believes there are no adults nearby, she whispers, "Bones? Where?"

Ycthuthrheth notices the whelps conspiring something, but decides to leave them alone. Whatever the trio are doing might make for an interesting report.

Xochcatl repeats herself, "In the swamp."

"I know, but the swamp is big. Where in the swamp?" asks Ivy.

"It's…" Xochcatl pauses, "… I don't know."

"Let's ask Ycreth about it. It was the one talking about it, right?," suggests Katherine.

Xochcatl agrees with the suggestion. "Sounds good. Come with me and I'll ask."

The trio finds Ycthuthrheth, and Xochcatl asks, "I've heard about spooky bones in the swamp. Where, exactly can it be found?"

The pilot behind the remote-controlled drone can't help but smile. It's great to see the young so curious and ready to explore. The adults might get angry if the whelps go off on their own, but it should be good so long as they have a supervisor right? It will 'let them go off on their own' while it watches them from the background and take this as a research opportunity. Maybe it could even convince some other adults to do some distance supervising with it. It calms itself so that its excitement can't be heard in its transmitted voice. Luckily, the drone's metallic exterior does not reflect the pilot's expressions. "Stay here. I'll bring you the map."

The trio giggle amongst themselves as Ycthuthrheth floated away, saying things along the lines of, "Can't believe it was that easy." Xochcatl, Katherine, and Ivy quickly try to compose themselves once they hear the mechanical hum of Ycthuthrheth's drone getting louder.

"Here it is," says Ycthuthrheth as it hands Xochcatl a GPS tablet with the location in question marked. "Make sure to report information about it."

They all give a quick thanks before running off in the direction of the mark.

As they march onward, their feet sink deeper and deeper into the soft, hydrated soil. The shallow, murky waters would be knee height for an adult, but is chest height to the whelps. When lifting themselves out, the water leaves them with green stockings of algae. Old, fallen, and decaying giant mushrooms offer bridges to avoid the water disgustingly full of life. At the marked location, a row of browned nubs reaches from below the water, kissing the air.
"You think it's that?" asks Ivy, pointing to the row of nubs.

Xochcatl looks at the tablet then at the direction Ivy points at. "It says it's there."

Katherine delves into the neck deep water to get a closer look and sees the nubs connecting to a spine, and rib cage radiating from the spine. "These are bones."

"Ew. We have to go under the swamp water to swamp water to see it." says Xochcatl. She then thinks a bit and shouts, "Last one to go in is spoiled meat!" and dives.

Katherine sinks her head in right after.

"The water is gonna make us stink like-" Ivy pauses when she realizes she is now the last one up, "ah." She takes her breath and looks at the underwater skeleton with the rest of them.

Once the trio is done observing what they can of the skeleton, Xochcatl uses the tablet to start a recording.

Xochcatl starts first. "The swamp bones are very large and long. It doesn't look like any animal I've seen here."

Ivy continues, "Its legs are also long and its feet look stompy. I think it was able to run fast, but not good at swimming."

Katherine ends the report, "Its mouth is huge and full of sharp teeth, all the same shape. I think it was a predator. One that would see us as a snack."

All three shiver at the thought, then quickly run their way back. The adults will notice if they are gone too long, after all.
