Koi frowned, handing the binoculars off to Woodland. "They've been getting closer lately." she mused thoughtfully, as Woodland took her turn looking at the herd of Hojenst that had made themselves at home across the bridge.
The two had been called over to the Mireh outpost, with the colonists living there not entirely sure how to deal with the bovines. The herd had made their way over pretty recently, likely having used the location where the outpost was as a nesting ground in previous years. The herd looked fairly small, but nonetheless could easily pose a threat the the community living there if they ever were to feel threatened.
Woodland hummed thoughtfully. "Well, as much as I dislike the idea of killing them, we need to get rid of them somehow and we could really use the resources." she sighed, looking over at Rose of the Plains. "any thoughts, Rose?"
The pinkish tsab jumped a little, not expecting to be called on. "Oh- uh, well- it's important to keep this place safe- and who knows what'll happen when they have calves..."
Koi's frown deepened. Rose certainly made a good point there. "Hadn't thought about that..." she muttered. she glanced over at the herd again. The group was peacefully grazing on the grass, which had grown extra long over the spring. All things considered, it was a perfect place for a group of Hojenst to live. "Can't we keep them around? Try to tame them?" Woodland hesitantly suggested, but Koi quickly shook her head.
"If we wanted to keep Hojenst we would have to buy some tamed ones. The wild ones are no good- rather unpredictable." Woodland frowned again, looking at the peacefully grazing herd. The largest in the group had wandered off to the riverbank, peacefully having a sip of water. The riverbank had already become barren, trampled by the herd's hooves from them constantly walking over the grass.
"Well, I suppose we better make it quick then." Woodland muttered. She had never hunted any animals before- and was honestly not *too* keen on the concept. She had always preferred a less violent approach, after all. But she supposed that Koi and Rose were right, and that the risk of the Hojenst becoming violent when they had calved to protect outweighed her discomfort at killing them.
"We should probably hunt them down at around sunset then. Snap mentioned that they usually rest around that time, so that should make it a little bit easier on us." she suggested. The other two Tsabhua nodded.
"Rose, can you go pick up some weapons from the outpost? Me and Woodland will keep watch on the herd- if we observe them for a bit we might notice some behaviours that'll make getting them down easier."
Rose nodded, turning back to walk to the outpost. As she left, Koi smiled reassuringly at Woodland. "I know you won't like this, but I'll make sure you won't have to do hard part. You just hang back as backup, alright?"
