Hours passed by, yet not a single conversation was had between the colonists who worked diligently from their stations to try and make sense of the mess before them. Quite a few cables and parts lay strewn about the room, many of the machines now completely dormant and cold with the parsing of their various pieces. Work only stops when Stryx cuts herself along a piece of exposed plating, and Kanene resigns herself to tending to the wound while Jack tries to find any clean-enough moss or lichen growing on the walls they can use to keep the wound from getting nasty. Coriander is the only one who continues to mess with the systems, careful to step around most of the carnage his team has made in their wake.
With his hands and mind so preoccupied, he almost misses the console's warning-- almost, if not for the quiet, dull drone of an alert that drew Coriander's eyes towards it. "Huh. Strange."
He hadn't seen anything like this throughout his time finagling with the various systems; most screens were too broken to do much more than flash a rainbow-esque array of colours, and those that didn't were completely void of… well. Anything.
Coriander glances over his shoulder to where Kanene is continuing to patch up Stryx, Jack accompanying them with a look that's half glazed over in exhaustion. He worries his bottom lip before unhanding the tangled web of cables in favor of the screen, carefully pressing some of the buttons he's familiar with until… it shows a map.
Part of a map, that is.
On the projection screen is a blinking dot with a label he can't quite discern, but the door's number marker is visible and it lines up with the ones on either side of the control room. A sequence. Another console, perhaps? "Guys, I think I found us a lead."
Coriander takes the lead this time and they abandon the ghosts of the room, leaving them to rest once again as they meander down another corridor that once again shows telltale signs of flooding and its damages. Kanene is careful to avoid the slippery patches of algaea growing out of the upturned panels lining the walkway. Jack favors those patches, relishing in the squelch of gentle plant fibers rather than the hard, uncaring metal they'd grown accustomed to.
Stryx is, as per usual, not caring where or what she hits on their way to the next room.
The four of them keep moving past the maze's offshoots, desperate to find more than just a singular light at the end of their quite literal tunnel. But the sound of water warbling through the walls makes itself known to them, and Coriander casts Jack and Kanene a glance that suggests they tread very, very carefully from that point on.
But it was Stryx he should've been more worried about, for she doesn't notice his warning and braces her sore shoulders against one of the walls with just a smidge too much pressure.
And soon enough, the once contained water comes out in a rush from behind her.
