Kadense bounded out of the elevator, her excited squeal caused Alexander to chuckle.
"Whoa there squirt, you need to wait for the slow pokes. " Alexander said as he shot the two older Tsabhuas as they exited the elevator with much more calmness.
Kel and Kya were too busy chatting and had missed Alexander's jab. Which did not faze Alexander in the slightest. There would be more chances to rib the two older ones later.
Alexander ran to catch up with Kadense who had stopped to stare straight up. Alexander followed her line of sight and also found himself staring. High above them was a clear glass dome that was holding back the ocean. Strange and colorful fish swam around. Some big and some small. Alexander watched as one school of black and orange fish darted around a large black fish with blue spotts on its side.
"Impressive site isn't it." A voice said from beside Alexander and Kadense. Alexander tore his gaze from the awesome sight above him to the one who spoke.
"I am Tolly, and I will be your guide. " the blue-green Tark'ee said. She had yellow underbelly and darker bands of the blue-green color. White marking bisected those bands. She had a frilled tail and frills on her cheeks. A small rudder like fin ran across her back. And two small horns graced the top of her head.
"Thank you. It's nice to meet you." Kya said. " This is Kel. And Alexander and the small one is Kadense. And I am Kya. " Kya pointed to each individual as she said their name.
"Let me first show you where you are staying." Tolly said as she turned and headed away from the open fields and toward the white city.
"Come on Kadense! We will come back but we need to check in and put our things away."
Alexander said as he guided Kadense back to the group even though he too wanted to stay and explore the area.
Kya and Kel took up the satchels of their things and followed behind Tolly and the two youngsters. Although Alexander was no longer a welp he was turning out to be a great help with Kadense.
Tolly led them through the city. The buildings were made out of a white stone that seemed to have little crystals imbedded into the blocks making them sparkle when the suns light reaches the city. A lot of the citizens of the city were aquatic Tark'ee with the occasional reef Belemoid.
When Kadense saw the white building she ran up and touched one. "It's not cold!" She exclaimed. Then ran off a head of them touching all the walls of the buildings. Alexander in hot pursuit.
"Why would she think the buildings are cold?" Tolly asked. She had never had a customer say that before.
"Where we live, something that is white usually means it's made out of snow. And the snow is cold."
Kya explained.
"What is snow?" Tolly was curious. She had been working as a tour guide for a long time and had grown interested in the outside world.
"It's when it gets really cold and rain turns to small white frozen water crystals and falls to the ground. There is so much of it that it reaches up to our chest in some places." Kel tried to explain.
"OooohKay. " Tolly said as she tried to wrap her head around frozen crystals falling from the sky. It must be something that she would have to witness for herself.
Tolly led them to a rather large building, inside was a large lounge area where there were several tables. Off to one side was a large platform with some musical instruments sitting waiting to be played. Possibly later in the night when the tables would be full. On the other side of the room was a desk made out of a light blue stone that contrasted nicely with the white walls. Tolly led them over to the desk.
"Hey Sal, this is the group that just came in. " Tolly turned to the group. "Sal here will get you set up. When you are done come back down and I will take you on a quick tour before the light fades away. "
"Thank you." Kya said as she and Kel got the key and herded Alexander and Kadense up the stairs to find their room.
