Woodland looked into the bunker, full of surprise. She had never quite imagined something like this hidden away in the bunker. She looked around at the lush, jungle like landscape around her. she looked at Wyrd standing besides her. "Are you ah- seeing what I'm seeing?"
"Giant jungle bunker?" Wyrd remarked eyebrow raised. "Hmm. yea that'd described it well, I suppose. We're supposed to map this?" Wyrd nodded, seeming equally surprised.
"Alright ah- let's go then. Map... Whatever this is." Woodland pushed into the bunker, surprised at the feeling of the soil underneath her feet. It felt surprisingly- normal? She grimaced, really not sure how to feel about this all. She wasn't exactly the bravest in the colony, but everyone had insisted she had the best skillset.
"So ah- maps, am I right..." Woodland. Wyrd nodded, amused at her awkwardness. "We can take it slow, don't worry too much about it." Woodland shrugged "Ah, whatever you'd like!"
Making a thoughtful noise, Wyrd peeked around some corners. "Well, then how about we map out some of the entrance parts first? Should be a nice point to start and make the next visits easier." Woodland happily agreed, glad to have a more clear direction.
---
Woodland took a deep breath, trying to shake off the unease that had settled in her chest. She had faced some strange things before, but nothing quite like this. They had been wondering what was in the bunker, but no one had ever expected a thriving jungle hidden beneath the surface. She glanced over at Wyrd, who seemed a lot more composed despite the bizarre surroundings., or at least she looked the part. Woodland, on the other hand, was freaking out.
Woodland gripped her notebook a little tighter. She considered herself lucky to have Wyrd with her, although it was nothing more than a stroke of luck that they had ended up teaming up together- Wyrd had just been at the entrance at the same time as Woodland.
The air was warm and humid, making Woodland’s fur stick to her skin. She couldn’t shake the feeling that either this place, or she herself, did not belong here.
“Strange place, isn't it?” Wyrd commented as they approached a cluster of thick bushes near the entrance. Woodland nodded, not really feeling like much of a conversation.
Woodland frowned, brushing a hand against a nearby plant. Its leaves were large, leathery, and an odd shade of green she’d never seen before. “Yeah, and look at these plants. They’re not from anywhere I’ve seen in Mireh or L’hatzif. I wonder what they are, how they got here.”
---
Wyrd looked back at her "Did you know this was all here?" and Woodland shook her head. “I don’t think so,” Woodland replied, her voice hushed. "I'm- not excited to find out what else is here." she chuckled nervously, glancing around as they carefully moved further into the jungle.
They began making quick notes of the area, mapping out the entrance and its surroundings. Wyrd’s calm, steady pace helped Woodland settle into a rhythm of sorts, though the strangeness of the place never left her mind.
As they rounded another corner, Woodland paused. "Do you think... there’s more to this? I mean, this whole place feels like it was meant to stay hidden.”
Wyrd glanced at her, serious now. "It’s possible. But that’s what we’re here for, I suppose. To figure it out."
Woodland nodded, though the weight of the unknown loomed over her. "Right. Let’s just hope we’re not the first ones to find it."
Wyrd grinned, though there was a hint of unease in her eyes. "Yeah, let’s hope."
